Local settings

Without signing in, your profile name, avatar, play history, saved games, Play Later and colour scheme are stored in this browser’s local storage. The current queue is stored separately in session storage and ends with this browser session. With an account, your profile, history, reactions and selected durable game lists are also stored on the server.

External games

Gernspielen’s external game player loads only on a game page that you open. The game provider’s privacy rules apply there.

Who receives your data

Your IP address reaches every host named here as soon as your browser contacts it. This list was measured on a real page with no interaction, not written from memory.

What we process data for

Every processing has a purpose and a legal basis. These are all the ones this portal performs.

• Profile name, avatar, history, saved games, “play later”, colour scheme and the queue stay in your browser. They are stored because you created them, and they never leave your device (§ 25(2) TDDDG, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
• We keep your decision about loading external games in your browser so that we do not ask again for every game (§ 25(2) TDDDG).
• The game itself runs on our partner’s servers. It is loaded only once you agree on the game page; the partner then receives your IP address and details about your device (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 25(1) TDDDG).
• Advertising on game pages is delivered by the same partner; the hosts contacted are listed among the recipients above. The decision you take on the game page covers this advertising as well (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
• If you sign in with Google or Apple, we pass your sign-in to that provider. This happens only when you choose it (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
• With an account we store profile, history, reactions, permanent game lists and comments on our servers to provide the account (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Comments are reviewed before publication; the moderation records protect every reader (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

For how long

Local data stays until you remove it or clear the site data; the queue ends with the browser session. Your decision about external games stands until you withdraw it or we have to ask again. Account data and comments stay until you delete them or the account. What our partners keep is governed by their own privacy policies.

Transfers outside the EU

Recipients outside the EU are marked above. Transfers to the USA rest on the European Commission’s adequacy decision where the recipient is certified under the Data Privacy Framework, and otherwise on standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the following rights against us. Write to the address given above.

• Access to the data we process about you (Art. 15).
• Rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16).
• Erasure (Art. 17). You can delete your account and your comments yourself in your profile.
• Restriction of processing (Art. 18).
• A copy of your data in a common format (Art. 20).
• Objection to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 21).
• You can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3)). Withdraw consent in your profile
• A complaint to a data protection supervisory authority, for example the one responsible for where you live (Art. 77).

Remove data

You can remove saved entries from their lists at any time or clear this website’s browser data.
